How to Hard Reset iPad 2 Manually

1. Plug your iPad 2 to a computer with the latest iTunes software using USB cable and start iTunes.

2. Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button and Home button for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on your iPad screen.

3. Once the Apple Logo vanishes, release the "Sleep/Wake" button while you still hold down the home button for approximately 5-10 seconds. Check iTunes to see if your iPad 2 has shown up.

4. Shortly after that iTunes will notify you that you are now in Recovery mode. Click on “OK” to continue with the restore process.

5. Next press the “Restore” button and then on “Restore and Update” to confirm.

6. Wait for iTunes to finish.



Note

If you do hard reset iPad 2, not only all content and settings on iPad 2 will be removed, but also the iOS system will be updated. If someone does not like to update iOS, hard reset may not be a good choice. While this is probably the easiest method to hard reset your iPad Air 2, it is important to remember that a hard reset does not guarantee your personal data cannot be recovered. Even the encryption part is removed after that, it is still possible to retrieve your iPad Air 3 data from the trace in deep.
