Force Quit the App and Relaunch

Sometimes simply quitting the app and then relaunching it solves the app crashing and app not opening on iPhone issues. By quitting the app, you clear it from the device’s memory and allow for a clean launch. Here is how to force quit app:
  1. Bring up the multitasking screen by double-clicking on the Home button.
  2. Find the app that you want to quit and then swipe up on that app in order to quit out of it.
  3. Now return to the Home Screen by pressing the Home button and then tap the app icon to relaunch it.

Remove and Re-install it

Removing and then re-installing the app is one of the first things most technicians instruct when it comes to app crashing or app not opening on iPhone issues. When you remove the app, it will be uninstalled from your iPhone. Then you will need to install it from the App Store immediately. The process is quite straightforward. Follow these instructions to remove and re-install app:
  1. Find the app that is not opening on the Home Screen of your iPhone. Tap its icon and hold it.
